Title Sequence for our film.
The main idea for our title sequence is to show a group of teenagers getting chased by our main villain who is dressed as a clown. As the main action of the chase is happening we will include short second clips of random conventional horror features which will make the audience feel uncomfortable. As this is happening actors, directors, editors names will appear on screen in red writing, which has connotations of blood and danger. When the main drama is about to happen at the end of the chase it will suddenly cut to the main title of our film which is "The Entertainer".
Using the distribution company of 'Dimension Extreme' we will first include that in the beginning of our title sequence, on a black background with white bold writing. We chose to use a black background as it is conventional to the horror genre and has connotations of death. We chose the white bold writing to contrast with black to highlight the importance of the distribution company.
Sound Effects
While the distribution company appears the sound effects of children giggling, chimes and a creepy music box begins. We found a similar link to this music on youtube.
We are using something similar to these two clips throughout the title sequence as we think it is relevant with the children laughing as it links with our storyline. Also the chimes can be seen as symbolic as it is a warning of danger to the children and can be portrayed as mysterious. As the clips are been shown the sound effect of a static television cutting off to make is seem uncomfortable.
Lighting
The lighting we have decided to use is dark lighting with minimal lighting to highlight certain areas of the screen to reveal shadows, props, characters etc. The minimal lighting will be from the torch held by the teenagers in the woods as it flashes back to the clown character. The clips included, some will include over exposed lighting and some with shadowing, this change in lighting will make it look unnatural.
Editing
The editing we will is a montage sequence of clips, for example on The Ring Videotape, but at a quicker scene and use unnatural strange clips. Cuts will be used to quicken up the speed to make it seem more thrilling and dangerous
