Treatment for 2 minute film

Title: The Entertainer
Duration: 2 minutes
Audience: The audience we targeted was at a teenage audience due to the characters we decided to use and the initial storyline etc. Our audience can vary to people who enjoy horror/gore featured films but is dominantly aimed at the target audience of teenagers.
Distributor: For our film we chose to use the distributor of 'Dimension Extreme' as it is an independent company and wouldn't influence change compared to if we chose a mainstream distributor.
Summary of Story:  In the first 2 minutes of the film the main character, Greg, is having a nightmare which features himself in a woods with a unexpected dead body and a clown following him, as he wakes us from the nightmare he walks downstairs to have a conversation to his girlfriend about the nightmare and gets a phone call from his boss in which he is asked to come into work. His job is as a children's entertainer and as Greg comes of the phone the audience feels his frustration from his job, which creates sympathy. after the phone call he goes upstairs to find a clown outfit which he uses at work but its covered in blood, which causes confusion for both the audience and the main character Greg.
Suggested Elements: Throughout the opening scene of our film we thought by adding certain twists to it in the first scenes would engage the audience and make it stand out, for example the clown is a women which shows different representation towards gender as it is subverting stereotypes as women are tend to be portrayed as vulnerable. Also the blood on the clowns outfit gives it a twist to the storyline in the first scenes as his dream included a clown and he is a children's entertainer which shows an iconic link.

Treatment for final film

Title: The Entertainer
Duration: 90 mins (1 hour 30 mins)
Audience: The audience we targeted was at a teenage audience due to the characters we decided to use and the initial storyline etc. Our audience can vary to people who enjoy horror/gore featured films but is dominantly aimed at the target audience of teenagers. Further into the film we will include more gore which could interest different audience types however we don't specifically aim it at a certain gender. According to the classification on the BBFC website anyone under the ages of 15 couldn't watch this film as it includes strong language and harmful props such as a knife which would be used throughout the final film.
Distributor: Dimension Extreme is the distributor we chose for the full film as we thought as an independent distributor this would provide the storyline to the niche audience, which would typically be teenagers which fitted with what we aimed to succeed with our film.
Summary of Story: Our storyline is based around this one character who recently has been having troubles in their life and as a result they have been forced to turn to a job that they cant particularly see themselves enjoying. Its their first day as a children's entertainer and as the day progresses we find that there is a reason that this particular job has been open for a while. By day our character is just a children's entertainer down on their luck. But by night, unaware of their actions, we find that they change and crave a murderous nature. They gradually begin to pick off the members of this small remote town, which they have found himself stuck in, until they comes across a face that they recognise, their sisters. The towns people begin to realise that their has been a lot of people gone missing recently and they go in search of them, this only makes this murderous children's entertainers job much easier and much more desirable. After a series of gruesome murders, our character wakes the next morning completely unaware of what he has done. The only thing that brings questions to their mind are the traces of splattered blood across their costume the next morning. They then return to work for the second time and yet again becomes possessed by this murderous clown spirit. Unable to stop these murderous cravings, they begin to pursue their sister until the time comes when they meet and pace of the storyline greatly increases. Scenes within the film bring up questions that are unanswered until the final scene, and the conclusion is not one to be expected. This film is seen from the perspective of several of the towns people, including the person who is possessed by the clown spirit. The clown tends to target children and is often seen luring kids from the playground during the dark winter afternoons. Although we see through the clown possessed characters perspective the production is set up so that the other towns people are unaware of who this murdering clown is and therefore adds a lot of tension to certain scenes. The way it is set up also makes the audience question whether it is actually this down on their luck character that is within the clown costume.
Suggested Elements: Throughout the film we have included twists which will keep the audience interested and engaged in the storyline, and it will play with their mind. We wanted to include alot of gore and obscene unusual killings which will make it twisted and more creepy, and as most of the film is from the perspective of the killer but unknowingly, it comes as a shock when it comes clear in the final scene. By using children this makes it stand out as, even though most horrors use children, we are using children in a different way as they are the victims but never get hurt, whereas horror films tend to use the children as the villian for example 'Orphan'.
